Token Wise is a Chromium browser extension that estimates the token count and credit cost of prompts typed into major AI platforms including ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, and Perplexity. It displays a live cost badge next to the prompt box and offers one-click prompt optimization with modes such as Balanced, Shorter, Clearer, or More Specific. Prompt text stays local by default and is only sent to the rewriter if the user clicks Optimize, with a fallback to a fully offline local rewriter. The extension also includes an optional API monitoring feature that tracks spend across AI vendor APIs without capturing prompt or response content.
