Screendrop is a free, self-hostable macOS app for capturing screenshots and screen recordings as a Loom alternative. It offers non-destructive annotation, smart redaction, background effects, and a full recording studio with timeline editing. Recordings can be transcribed on-device, captioned with karaoke-style highlights, and edited by cutting the transcript. Finished work can be shared via a user-owned Cloudflare account with searchable transcripts and rich link previews. The app integrates with Apple Shortcuts, Siri, and Homebrew for flexible automation and installation.
