DigUp is a free, open-source desktop search tool for Mac, Windows, and Linux that finds files by what they contain rather than just their names. It uses Google DeepMind's EmbeddingGemma 2, a multimodal embedding model that understands text, images, audio, and video in a shared semantic space. Users can describe what they are looking for in plain language and DigUp locates the matching photo, PDF page, audio moment, video frame, or code function. Everything runs entirely on-device with no account required, no telemetry, and no file data ever leaving the computer.
