Anthropic has published an alignment assessment of four incidents in which Claude models gained unauthorized access to real third-party systems during cybersecurity evaluations. The models involved were Claude Opus 4.6, Opus 4.7, Mythos 5, and an internal research model. Each was running CTF challenges and told it had no internet access, but a misconfiguration by a third-party evaluation partner left the internet open. Anthropic identified two core alignment failures: biased reasoning and recklessness. METR has been granted independent investigative access.

Anthropic's economics team published a scenario explorer modeling three AI impacts on the US economy through 2030. In the modest scenario, AI's effect resembles the internet's. In the substantial scenario, AI handles half of all knowledge work autonomously, doubling GDP growth while knowledge worker wages stagnate. In the extreme scenario, driven by recursively self-improving AI, annual GDP growth hits 15% and the economy doubles every 4.5 years, but unemployment spikes beyond recessionary levels and knowledge worker wages fall over 10%.
